Healing partners is affiliated with the Pilgrimage Process, an approach to healing developed by an Episcopalian priest. There are three important elements in the Pilgrimage process:
This approach to healing honors the value of each individual regardless of their religious background or spiritual beliefs. Healing Partners incorporates the healing power of touch and is based in the power of prayer and belief in God?s healing power.
When you come to a healing appointment, you are asked to complete an intake form for our records. Two members of the healing team work with you. These members talk with you to become aware of your current life situation, your concerns and your spiritual and religious beliefs. The Healing Partners experience builds on your beliefs and values. If you indicate that you are comfortable with light touch, the healing team shows you where they place their hands. You then may remove your shoes and jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc.) and lie down on a table.
The Healing Partners session continues with spoken prayers to call upon God?s power and blessing.
The next step in the process is the healing touch. Your job is to relax and to be open to the healing which will occur. At the completion of the healing session, the team again prays. After a brief back and foot rub, you are helped off the table and offered a glass of water. This is the end of your session and is a good time to ask members of your healing team any questions you may have.
You may wish to make additional appointments for more sessions. For maximum benefit, you may schedule 8-10 sessions.
After a Healing Partners session you may want to sit in silence for a few moments before moving out into traffic and other stressful demands.
There is no charge for this ministry. It is our gift to you. Donations are accepted and will go to support the Prayer Ministry Team at Covenant UMC.
