Inasmuch Ministry is a ministry of Broadway Christian Church in Fort Wayne that is supported by 32 area churches, including Covenant. We presently give the ministry $350 per month out of our Mission & Outreach budget. Others in our church give additional gifts each month.
Inasmuch serves the poorest of the poor (many the Townships can’t help) by providing the following:
- food – for persons without food stamps (or who are at the end of the month); and clothing
- help with getting an I.D. or birth certificate – especially for those just released from prison
- bus passes for looking for work or going to medical appointments
- financial help – for rent or utilities. An agreement is written that requires the client do things such as: look for work at ten places, prepare a budget, do two Bible worksheets, attend worship at a church of their choice, etc. Clients are always required to go to their township trustee for help first. Clients are also informed of other local agencies for assistance.
The ministry is housed in a building at 930 Broadway (owned by Broadway Christian Church). On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday clients from 9:00-12:00. The ministry usually serves between 25-40 people per day. There are usually 15 or so volunteers to help serve them.
How can you volunteer with this ministry? The following responsibilities are waiting for YOU: Receptionist – Registration – Food/clothing room help – Computer entry – File room – Client minister – Janitorial help. Volunteers are needed Monday, Wednesday, and/or Friday from 8:45 until noon. If you’d like more information contact the church office at 489-1888.
